The new golfing season has started on a high at Poland’s top golf resort. According to figures released today, the 2012 season will be the busiest yet at Modry Las Golf Club with the acclaimed Gary Player-designed course playing host to a record number of tournaments and members.
Voted as one of the best tracks in Europe by Golf World (UK) magazine, the West Pomeranian course will be the setting for over 150 events including key tournaments such as the Choszczno and Kettler Opens. The course will also host the Polish Golf Union’s junior golf training camps. Year on year, this represents a 50% increase on the number of events at the club; and the most to ever take place at the resort.
Equally impressive is the record tally of members which has reached 168 with over 70 new members joining in the last eight months. Up 60% on last year, these latest figures include 30 non-playing, social members and 15 international members from countries such as Germany, France, Finland and Sweden.
Discussing the figures, Stewart Snedden, director of golf at Modry Las Golf Club, praised the commitment of his staff and the innovative measures introduced at the club. “The course has been open for three years, and during each successive season we have made improvements across the board in terms of course conditioning, the number of facilities available and quality of service,” he explained. “We have also introduced a flexible membership scheme that has encouraged more international members and attracted those looking to take up the sport. That, alongside the number of events taking place this year, should make for the most exciting season ever.”
It will also be a busy time off the course with the latest round of improvements taking shape at Modry Las Golf Club including the development of a challenging nine-hole short course, the launch of a specially designed golf academy and introduction of stylish, on-site self-catering accommodation. These latest projects are designed to complement what is fast becoming one of Europe’s most sought-after golfing experiences.
“We have always aimed to make Modry Las a first-class golfing experience centred around Gary Player’s outstanding design,” explained Pamela Gromadzki, director of development and marketing at Modry Las Golf Club. “We opened the course in 2009 and have continually improved the facilities in line with the expectations of our members and visitors. It is gratifying to see the number of events we are hosting increasing alongside our membership. These record figures endorse the work we are doing and mean the 2012 season will be the busiest yet. And there will be more exciting developments to come.”
With a packed programme of events and developments planned for the summer, the recording-breaking season at Modry Las Golf Club is set to be one to remember.
